Wednesday Wish List oo6

The Wednesday Wish List is back! Being sick has given me plenty of time to look at pretty things online when I really should have been recovering and drinking more fluids.. Check out this week's items!

Wednesday Wish List

001 | First is this beautiful checkerboard dress from Monki. Monki are a brand who I think get easily overlooked. They remind me of Gap and H&M - brands who create great quality clothing at amazing prices. This dress is £40 and will be so snug and comfy this winter!

002 | I've become really obsessed with Jeremy Scott recently. I'm watching about ten pairs of his Adidas trainers on eBay at the moment, despite the fact that I really can't afford them. His designs are so 90's and a bit Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I think these ones are an older design but I am in love with the Miami pair and pretty much everything else he lays his hands on!

003 | Now for another high end product (isn't that what wish lists are for?) I love love love sunglasses in the winter. I love the idea of a simple black silhouette with dark shades and chignon hair. Basically I love funeral chic. These Nikitas by Tom Ford are so beautiful and I am still devastated that last year I missed out on a brand new pair on eBay for £60!

004 | Ahhh black boots! I don't know how I am going to dress when Summer comes around. I love the detailing on this pair from Choies - the gold hardware and the patent croc is beautiful! definitely going to invest in some moc croc boots when Christmas is out the way!

005 | Being sick means a lot of nail art. I have been constantly painting my nails over the past few weeks but my topcoat is awful! I've been using the Rimmel Lasting Finish Top coat and is chips and dents after about an hour And it takes forever to dry! I've been looking at a lot of top coat reviews and I've heard so many good things about the Seche Vite top coat. Apparently it is THE best and makes your nails look like you've had shellac - really glossy and gel-like.

006 | It was difficult choosing only one item from Zara for this week's wish list. Everything is incredible and I want all their plaid. However I went with this gorgeous blue and gold statement necklace. I love a statement necklace and this is a great day to evening piece!

007 | Another piece I found on Choies was this amazing burgundy coat! As much as I love a tailored winter coat, sometimes it's just really nice to throw on something comfy for popping to the shops or walking the dog. I love the collars on this coat and the shape looks really comfy and cosy. The only thing I really want to change about this is the texture - Choies, can you make this in corduroy?

008 | Whilst currently being obsessed with nail art, I have been keeping up to date with the Queens of nails - WAH on their Instagram! Obviously because I can't get enough, I found their book on Amazon! It's an amazing selection of designs and inspirations with handy tips and tricks! Next time I go to London I am getting booked in for daisy print nails!

009 | Lastly my battered gold watch from Next has gone missing. I know it's somewhere in the house but it's probably time for a new one anyways.. I love this gold one with little globes in the face from ASOS! It's only £25 and really cute. Simon has hinted about getting me a watch for Christmas so this is some good shopping inspiration for him!

I've just had to speed type all of this because I can hear Badger being a little gremlin downstairs. Today she decided to eat a pen. We are both covered in ink and she has a completely black paw. I hope she starts being good soon!

Matalan - the trendiest brand this year?

Anyone else noticed that Matalan is everywhere recently? For me, Matalan has never been a brand to associate with fashion. When I thought of the shop, jogging pants and comfort came to mind.. I owned some clothes from there as a child but I never once ventured in as an adult..

BUT, this year I think they're outdoing every other high street shop in the style stakes.
So, how have they gone from drab to fab?

Their secret (besides great PR and a beautiful model) is in a capsule collection called 'The Statements' - everyday pieces will easily fit into your existing wardrobe, can be mixed and matched and come in a variety of colours.

They've kept every item simple and classic with a perfect fit. Last month I needed a leather jacket and searched high and low for the perfect one - biker, with zips, not too short and maybe some quilting... I looked in every shop I could think of (I set my heart on the beautiful one in Zara but my bank balance didn't agree) and then I saw it in a magazine. The perfect jacket, for £30.. FROM MATALAN?!
I had never even thought of them!
PU Leather Jacket £30
It's probably the best faux leather jacket I've ever come across and it's so soft!

After a good experience with the jacket (and a store card with discounts!) I decide to do some online shopping. I was amazed at what I found!

All these items would work easily together and with the clothes that I already own. The Burberry printed heart shirt is so in demand and they've have the common sense to make their own version at an amazing price! I think Matalan have done a great job with the quality of their items - they look a lot more expensive than they actually are.

Matalan Accessories 2013
Shoe Boots £24, Oversized Tote Bag £20, Across Body Satchel £15Triple Buckle Ankle Boots £24, Lace Up Shoe Boots £24, Tote Bag £15
Did anyone else immediately think Mulberry Alexa when they saw this satchel?! It's beautiful! This bag is only £15 and I have the burgundy one (definitely recommend it!) One tip with buying bags from Matalan - don't buy online. Always buy your bags instore. I bought a lovely grey tote online and it arrived covered in dirty marks.. I had to go to the store to exchange it (which is how I ended up with the burgundy satchel!) Speaking of burgundy, the Triple Buckle Ankle boots also come in black!

It's also worth mentioning that Abbey Clancy and Liverpool based designers Philip Armstrong have their own collaborative collections instore now! Abbey has some great leather pieces and Philip's courts are beautiful!

I still think there are a lot of clothes that don't relate to me or my age group but they're doing a great job at branching out to the younger audience and I think their collections are only going to get better!
.So what do you think? Have you recently bought anything from Matalan or are you still not convinced?

Wednesday Wish List #1

So, I've decided, once a week to post all the items I have bookmarked for payday/when I'm really rich!
Most of these items are things I've come across on Polyvore or Ebay or just out in Chester town.
Wish List #1

1. Firstly, I know that everyone has shown this Lulu Guinness bag - BUT IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL! You can also get it in pewter and an amazing acid yellow shade. It's such a fun item and this dark berry shade is perfect for A/W!

2. Pineapple print is one of my favourites at the moment! It's definitely a summer print, but I'm going to keep it going this winter. This cotton dress from Gorman is really sweet and you can get a closer to home pineapple print dress here (and it's on sale!)

3. I've wanted a Marc Jacobs watch forever. Everyone has a Michael Kors one but for me, Marc is the one. I debated buying the grey chronograph for months but have now settled on this classic black one. It will go with everything I own and all my gold jewellery! You can get a similar looking one here!

4. Next is this faux leather pleated midi skirt from Warehouse, which is so perfect for A/W. I will be wearing this with my new block Chelsea boots (which I will share in another post!) and some cosy knitwear. This is a great item to transistion into evening wear too!

5. This cape from Zara is perfectly on trend. Tartan is already a big thing this season and I love a winter cape! It's a bit pricey (£159.00) but would make such a good investment when you think how much you will wear it!

6. So happy to say these Adriana heels from Kurt Geiger have been reduced! I've never really been a big fan of Kurt Geiger. Living near Liverpool means you get all the overly-made up Scouse girls repping the highest and brightest KG's they can find every weekend. However, I got a gift voucher for my birthday and have been pleasantly surprised by some of the more grown up shoes! These heels are amazing and I love the buckle detailing!

7. This embellished top from Topshop would perfectly compliment the rest of my wardrobe. I own a lot of patterned trousers and need some simple tops to match. The neckline on this is really sweet and the colour would look great with an all monochrome outfit!

8. Finally, I will never buy this Maison Scotch iPhone cover, I just had to show it to you! It's so so beautiful but I cannot justify spending nearly £40 on a case. However, I found a great alternative!

What is on your wish list this week?
